Views From The Oasis / 1980 -

“I am fascinated with the idea of taking familiar landmarks and changing them so that the landscape can speak of more than just physical presence. The objects and landmarks of my environment are altered, added to and re-mixed so as to reflect a broader sense of place that can accommodate allusions to history and contemporary event”. 

 

 

" I've tried to convey a sense of something organic, in a constant state of flux. It is half land and half flesh - like an animal whose skin has been pealed back to reveal scarring and bruising so that the land speaks of more than topography”.
